Hosur Train Accident: 10 Dead, Over 100 Injured

2:20 PM IST, Feb 13, 2015 – As per recent media reports, 10 people have died and more than 100 have been injured after the Bangalore-Erbakulam Intercity Express derailed near Hosur today morning.  Suresh Prabhu, Union Railway Minister has tweeted that the accident has occurred as the train hit a boulder which had fallen on the track. Reportedly, rescue and relief operations are underway at the site. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.

Many Injured as Train Derails Near Hosur

 An express train enroute to Ernakulam, Kerala has been derailed near Hosur, Tamil Nadu. As per media reports, the train had started at 6 am from Bengaluru and derailed at around 7:48 am injuring many passengers. According to media reports, train’s nine coaches were derailed and one of the injured persons has been rushed to the hospital. Reportedly, ambulances from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and two teams of National Disaster Response Force have been rushed to the accident spot.
